Biography

Elfi Six practices Shiatsu for almost 30 years and is a Certified Teacher and Practitioner of Autonics®. She is nationally certified in Oriental Bodywork.

In 1984 Elfi moved from Berlin to Washington DC and NYC.

For 7 years she taught Shiatsu internationally for the Ohashi Institute, and became a Certified Movement Analyst (CMA, Laban Institute).

She extended her studies in Oriental Medicine with Jeffrey Yuen, acupuncturist, herbalist, and Taoist priest. Elfi has also worked with pregnant women to provide labor support with Shiatsu, and she has held numerous workshops on a variety of health related topics in her studio in NYC and at NOAH in Great Barrington, MA.

She lectured at 2 different Conferences for Midwives

  • 1992: “The value of Shiatsu in the Birthing Room – St. Paul, Minnesota
  • 1999: “Ageless Touch ” at the Midwifery Conference (The Wellness Approach to the Care of Women) at SUNY Downstate Medical Center – New York, NY

Her pursuit of the use of Sound to guide energy along meridians and acupuncture points grew out of taking a program in Creative Art Therapy, at the New School, where she specialized in Music Therapy with Prof. Louise Montello,, Ph.D.

She volunteered for 2 month in the Music Therapy Department at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, NYC.
Attending Sound Healing Conferences she has found more accomplished Sound Healers in the Field to study with (especially Tom Kenyon, Jill Purce, etc.).

For 10 years now, Elfi lives in the Berkshires, MA. Besides seeing clients in her studio she was involved in:

  • Teaching Shiatsu in a Massage School program of the Berkshire Community College, BCC, in Pittsfield, MA.
  • Providing Acutonics Training for Acupuncturists and other Health practitioners at Canyon Ranch Health Spa, Lenox, MA.
  • Teaching several Acutonics Certificate Programs for Level I and II
  • Lecture: Töne die heilen, at the Liquid Sound Festival in Bad Sulza, Germany, titled: Baden und Träumen in Klang, Licht und Sternenwelten, 2007.
  • AOBTA – National Convention in Boston 2007, co-presenting with Donna Carey, PH.D, LAC and Ellen Franklyn, PH.D, a workshop on: Acutonics® Sound Healing: from galaxies to cells, planetary science, harmony and medicine.
  • Lecture at the New School for Social Research in NYC: From Galaxies to Cells –Soundhealing with Acutonics-, 2008.
    yearly retreats for AIDS/HIV patients at a ZEN Monastery for 12 years
  • Various lectures/workshops on Self Help issues for the NOAH Center in Great Barrington, MA.
  • Gong Meditations (Earth vibration) for various purposes in local community settings;
  • She offered her services at Canyon Ranch Spa Resort, from 2000-2010, where she also gave lectures for the guests about Shiatsu and Acutonics.
