Biography

Elfi Six, L.M.T., is a licensed Acutonics® Teacher for Level I-IV, a Certified Practitioner of Asian Bodywork (AOBTA), a Certified Movement Analyst, CMA, and owner of www.CosmicResonance.com. As an Acutonics teacher, she leads classes every year for appropriate levels of the Acutonics certification program.

In 1984 Elfi moved from Berlin to Washington, D.C., and then to New York City. She has lived in the Berkshires of Massachusetts since 2000, and she has been practicing Shiatsu since 1981.

In 1986, she received her certification as an Ohashiatsu Instructor, and for seven years she taught all levels of the curriculum internationally for the Ohashi Institute, NY.

In 1990 she graduated from the Laban Institute in NYC as a Certified Movement Analyst (CMA), an educational element in her bodywork practice.

She is nationally certified in Massage and Oriental Bodywork.

She is a Certified Practitioner of Asian Bodywork (AOBTA).

She extended her studies in Oriental Medicine extensively with Jeffrey Yuen, acupuncturist, herbalist, and Taoist priest, e.g. in a yearlong program: Introduction into Chinese Herbology.

Elfi has also trained as a Doula and provided labor support for some of her pregnant clients with Shiatsu.

She was invited to lecture at:

  • 1992: “The value of Shiatsu in the Birthing Room –  Midwives Conference in St. Paul, Minnesota
  • 1999: “Ageless Touch ” at the Midwifery Conference (The Wellness Approach to the Care of Women) at SUNY Downstate Medical Center – New York, NY

She has held numerous workshops on a variety of health related topics in her studio on Broadway in New York City.

She received professional Training in ‘Aromatherapy for Healing the Spirit’ by Gabriel Mojay, in 1998.

Her pursuit of using SOUND to guide energy along meridians and acupuncture points grew out of taking a program in Creative Art Therapy, at the New School, where she specialized in Music Therapy with Prof. Louise Montello, Ph.D. The final highlight was a volunteer program for 2 month in the Music Therapy Department at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, NYC in 2000.

Already enrolled in the Acutonics Program, she traveled to attend all the required courses. After graduating as an Acutonics Practitioner, she became a Certified Acutonics Instructor in 2004. She contributed a Case Study about Shoulder and Neck Pain in the Case Study Companion Guide to “Acutonics -From Galaxies to Cells”, p. 83.

While offering her services at Canyon Ranch Spa Resort, Lenox, MA, from 2000-2010, she initiated Acutonics to be included in the menu of services at Health and Healing, gave lectures for the guests about Shiatsu and Acutonics, and provided Acutonics Training for Acupuncturists and other Health practitioners at the Spa.

  • Besides seeing clients in her studio and at Canyon Ranch, some of her other activities were: 
  • Attending all Sound Healing Conferences in Santa Fe, NM, gave her access to a broad spectrum of accomplished Sound Healers (Ritual and Resonance: Jill Purce; Tom Kenyon; among many others).
  • Teaching Shiatsu in a Massage School program of the Berkshire Community College, BCC, in Pittsfield, MA.
  • Teaching since 2004 Acutonics Certificate Programs for Level I and II; in 2013 she was also certified for teaching Level III and IV.
  • Lecture: “Töne die heilen”, at the Liquid Sound Festival in Bad Sulza, GERMANY, titled: Baden und Träumen in Klang, Licht und Sternenwelten, 2007.
  • AOBTA – National Convention in Boston 2007, co-presenting with Donna Carey, PH.D, LAC and Ellen Franklin, PH.D, a workshop on: Acutonics® Sound Healing: From Galaxies to Cells- planetary science, harmony and medicine.
  • Lecture at the New School for Social Research in NYC: “From Galaxies to Cells” –Soundhealing with Acutonics-, 2008.
  • Providing service at yearly Healing Retreats at Dai Bosatsu ZEN Monastery, in Livingston Manor, NY, for over 20 years.
  • Training and Certification in Medical Massage (2010).
  • Twice/year she offers her service in Acutonics at local dog camps (Campunleashed.com).
  • Various lectures/workshops on Self Help issues for the NOAH Center in Great Barrington, MA.
  • Gong Meditations (Earth vibration) for various purposes in local community settings or in private settings.
